Letters and numbers, light-sensitive emulsion on wood (115x127 cm)

84 square plywood blocks, with its own lettering and numbering, attached to walls, fences, and buildings throughout Manhattan, correlated with specific locations as seen on the map above. When connecting all these locations on a map, it will spell vicarious living, expanding from 110th to 17th Street, from 11th to 1st Avenue.

Each block was covered with light-sensitive emulsion. Square pieces of transparent vellum, depicting one letter and one number, overlaid each plywood block (i.e. V5, I2, C4). In one week, the intensity of the light burned the letters and numbers, as drawn on the vellum, into the wood. After one week, I picked up the blocks I was able to retrieve.
